Paralegals in Koboko and Pader have been actively engaged in tracking all forms of violence against females in their respective localities and identi-fied Rose Oyo (not real name), a mother with a disability suffering do-mestic abuse from her nephew. The nephew; a soldier with a history of violence, realized that Oyo had chased away his cattle from grazing on her land and gave her two hot slaps on the cheek followed by a death threat, “I will return and kill you. Since you do not have money you cannot chal-lenge me by seeking legal redress”.
The Paralegals intervened and en-couraged Rose to report the matter to the Police and encouraged her to move somewhere safer. The cattle were de-stroying Oyo’s crops which were her and her children’s source of livelihood.
